Before My Surgery

Follow these guidelines the day before your surgery to ensure that your procedure goes smoothly:

  • If you become ill or suspect that you may be pregnant, please inform us as soon as possible before your procedure.
  • For your safety, do not eat or drink after midnight on the night before your surgery unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. This includes candy, water, coffee, chewing
gum, etc. Undigested food in the stomach can cause complications, and your surgery will likely be postponed if you fail to follow these instructions.
  • Routine medications authorized by your physician may be taken with a sip of water early in the morning.
  • If you are diabetic, please obtain specific instructions from your physician regarding medication.
  • Please bathe or shower prior to surgery. Remove all make-up, jewelry, hairpieces and false eyelashes. Do not use lotions, oils or perfume after bathing. If you are having surgery on your hand or foot, make sure to remove any nail polish.
  • Please arrange in advance for a responsible adult to drive you home from the Center after your procedure. A responsible party/family member must be with you the day
    of your surgery and overnight.
